This course is designed to equip Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) drivers with essential knowledge and skills for effective space management while operating a CMV. In this course, we will cover FMCSA guidelines on Space Management for CMV operators, strategies for maintaining a safe operating space around the vehicle, techniques for managing space during maneuvers such as merging or turning, how to maintain awareness of blind spots, proper following distances, procedures for handling tight spaces and intersections, and tips for anticipating and responding to other drivers’ actions. Real-world examples of effective space management will also be examined.
